Devising 15-12-14

Today we changed a part of our performance!
We decided that the idea of each separate stations for the 'newbie'  to train at wasn't as good as it is supposed to be so we decided to change it to a movement inspired piece where the 'newbie' moves from person to person acting out each training session based on who he is train with, for example if he was train with my character 'Spencer' he would have to be learning how to correctly fire guns and ect.
We decided to also add a piece of music I've the top of this and we decided on 'Hail to the King' by Avenged Sevenfold as this song is about the oppression of people by a single monarch which is similar to the piece of drama we are creating with Jamie being the oppressor.

We also had to perform a rough version of what we had devised to the other group and they recorded it for us however I'm waiting for them to upload it so we can put it on my blog and their recording device also ran out of memory whilst filming our piece so not all of it was recorded!

Devising 11-12-14

Today we decided what would be said and described in the opening monologue because Toby was ill and we need everyone at this stage because we are still making the 'foundation' decisions where everyone is need to decide.

Devising 9-12-14

Today we had to create the start to the opening scene in our performance. First we decided to map out what everyone would say over a radio link-up during a mission and what sort of rebellious actions we would carry out. We decided to make our mission about shutting down three main cameras that 'Jamie' uses to keep watch on her strict dystopia like 'kingdom.'
Toby in this piece is seen as the main distraction for the Guard (Ashley) so the mission can be carried out.
I think the music as a really good addition to add to the piece however people need to speak louder to be heard and I think ,personally, that the music should fade out to symbolise the gradual loss of danger and to slowly ease tension off of the audience rather than cut off the tension abruptly.
We plan to add more to this beginning but wanted to plan out roughly how we wanted it to look so we had a base plot to follow on.
Here is the Video of our rough opening:

Devising 8-12-14

Today we came up with the main sequence of evens for the performance and assigned roles!
Me and Toby both wanted to play the part of the person who fall in love with 'Jamie' so we decided to change the story to there being a love triangle between Jamie, My character and Toby's character. This would allow 'Jamie' to manipulate the both of us as we are bestfriends and both believe that 'Jamie' is in love with us and not the other. This could really help with the massive plot twist of 'Jamie' being one of the rebels.
Here are the photos of our planning:

Devising 4-12-14

Today we decided to change the story of the performance to a big brother style piece with there always being someone watching in this case 'Jaime' (which we changed to simon and then back again.) I think this idea has lots of potential to be a good piece. One idea was that Jamie is constantly thought to be many characters but turns out to be one of the girls that has always been a part of the rebel group that is trying to get rid of Jamie. My idea was that of the characters falls in love with Jaime and she falls in love them too but has to in the end kill them to regain control.

1st December 2014

Today we started our new project which was devising a piece of drama from a range of stimuli originating from the song "Chasing Pavements."
My group was Toby, Carl, Meg, Freya, Dom and Ashley and together we planned a mind map of ideas. We decided to combine my idea of a game like hunger games with Freya's idea for a horror house with the link being the participants are after the money.
Here is a Picture of our final mind map.

Weekly Summary 17-11-14

1) This week the company has been working on the beginning sequence as the original one was not look as professional and polished as it should so we changed it!
We created a whole new opening sequence by all dividing into separate groups and coming up with ideas and using them all to create a opening sequence much more polished, logical and fitting to the music. I think the best idea was the idea of Meg's group because they came up with using shapes created by us to create Christopher's mind  as he loves maths and one major aspect of A level mathematics is shapes and according formulas.
2) One activity we did that made me understand the play and develop my own acting skills was when we had to create a walk for our characters. This helped because it made me feel as if I understood my characters life and back story more as I had to consider things like this to create a walk.
3)I researched Aspergers this week in more depth to understand traits that is caused in people.

People with Aspergers syndrome sometimes find it difficult to express themselves emotionally and socially. For example, they may:
  1. have difficulty understanding gestures, facial expressions or tone of voice
  2. have difficulty knowing when to start or end a conversation and choosing topics to talk about
  3. use complex words and phrases but may not fully understand what they mean
  4. be very literal in what they say and can have difficulty understanding jokes, metaphor and sarcasm. For example, a person with Aspergers syndrome may be confused by the phrase 'That's cool' when people use it to say something is good. To help a person with Aspergers syndrome understand you, keep your sentences short - be clear and conciseSource of traits!

17th November 2014

Today we ran the first act of Curious Incident'
I managed to run the whole act without my script and didn't need prompting at any point.
I feel as if I could improve the characterisation of Reverend Peters more in many ways; I think I need to do more research again on the roles of Reverends in the community and more research into why Christopher talks to Reverend Peters because I that I can't connect with my character without understanding why he acts and talk the way he does.

Reverend Peters and Mr Gascoyne scene.

Here I tried to create what I believed a young Reverend would be like when he was asked by a local school for special needs children to invigilate and exam. Video of improvised scene!

Christopher in London - creating the street 16th October

This is where we created the streets of London with sound-scape and other techniques like freeze-frame.

This helps to create a scene of complete madness, much like the streets of London but at times create empathises of certain parts of the scene.

Reverend Peters- Opinion on Christopher Boone.

Well, what can I say about Christopher.
He is so intelligent and really does amaze me sometimes with his shear knowledge of the space beyond our earth. The only problem this causes is he brings logic to the argument over whether the lord and all of the divine powers really exist or not. I often find myself trying to think of answers to his bizarre questions like " Where is heaven" and trying to explain is not a place in this world or another never really works because he then goes on to theorise about how when people died they'd need to be fired in rockets into a black hole and ect.
None the less, Christopher is a lovely young man and I really think very highly of him, which is why I offered to be his invigilator for his maths A-level that he will sit soon!.

Lesson Log 29-09-14

Today in lessons we started off with trust exercises and learning how to do some lifts and movements that we plan to use in the production we produce of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time'
We then went on to continue blocking the first act by adding in physical theatre to show Christopher's thought process about whether to leave Mr Alexander's house or not. We did this by forming a human maze with a complex moving routine to make the maze move and change shape around Christopher so that it showed the effort he has to go through to make a decision.
